Tecnológico de Monterrey

I was at Tec for 10 years, from high school to college, and I really think it has shaped the way I am and made me a balanced professional.

My bachelors degree is in Mechatronics Engineering, I graduated in 2014 with a GPA of 3.95 (with honors). I also had the following accomplishments by the end of my career:
  1. Management Skills Diploma: I received management training during my bachelors, receiving a diploma with full validity in the end.
  2. High Academic Performance Diploma: I received special recognition for participating in the High Academic Performance group, which required a GPA higher than 3.6 (3.95) as well as a fulfilling a lengthy list of extracurricular activities.
  3. Social Service Award: I received this award for going above and beyond during my social service. I was in an impoverished town for 2 weeks preparing activities for kids. I also participated in a government program to promote reading.
  4. Student Development Award: I received this for my high participation in extracurricular activites. I participated in swimming, synchronized swimming, singing, cinematography and self-defense, amongst others.
  5. CENEVAL national prize: in my degree exam I received an outstanding score in all sections, being in the top 3% by score for the whole country. I received a special medal and a recognition for this.
Georgia Tech

To further specialize, I enrolled in the Online Masters of Science in Computer Science offered by Georgia Tech. My area of specialization includes subjects on machine learning and interactive intelligence:

  1. Data and Visual Analytics: focused on using R for data visualization and basic machine learning. The main project for this class involved analyzing a very large movie dataset.
  2. Knowledge Based Artificial Intelligence: focused on artificial intelligence techniques to design cognitive systems, the project in this class involved solving Ravens Progressive Matrices.
  3. Machine Learning: this class goes in somewhat deep in the math involved in the main machine learning algorithms. There were several projects which involved applying regression, classification, randomized optimization and reinforcement learning on several datasets.
  4. Machine Learning for Trading: this class focused on the development of machine learning algorithms for trading in the stock market, from decision trees to intelligent agents using Q-learning.
  5. Reinforcement Learning: this classed focused on applying reinforcement learning algorithms to Markov Decision Process problems, as well as studying the related game theory concepts.
  6. Human Computer Interaction: this class focused on the theoretical framework behind user interaction and experience, exploring design heuristics and practices oriented towards research of human interaction with computer interfaces. The project in this class involved analyzing and redesigning an interface based on user feedback.
  7. Software Development Process: this class focused on the standard process for designing and testing a software system based on user specifications. The project consisted in developing an Android application for a Scrabble-like game. 
  8. Educational Technology: this class focused on developing content based on an identified need. The need I identified was that current offerings for data visualization courses focus almost entirely on the practical aspects of visualization. I developed a data visualization course that covers the theoretical aspects related to perception and cognition, which also shows the process for Storytelling with data.
